First: whose fault was it?
This is the question that decides everything. In NSW, the driver who is at fault is generally responsible for the other party's vehicle damage. So even if you don't have comprehensive insurance, if the other driver caused the crash, you may be able to recover your repair costs from them.
What CTP (green slip) does and doesn't cover
Every registered vehicle in NSW has CTP insurance (the "green slip"). Importantly, CTP covers injuries — not vehicle damage. So you can't rely on the other driver's green slip to fix your car. Property damage is a separate matter, handled between the parties or their insurers.
If the other driver was at fault and is insured
You can claim against their insurer directly for your repair costs, even without your own comprehensive policy. You'll need their details and a clear, itemised repair quote. This is where we help — we provide a properly documented quote you can submit.
If the other driver was at fault but uninsured
You can pursue them personally for the cost of repairs. Many people start with a written letter of demand, and if needed, a claim through NCAT (the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal) for smaller amounts. Keep every piece of evidence — photos, the police event number, witness details and your quote.
If you were at fault
Without comprehensive cover, you'll generally pay for your own repairs. Don't panic — get an honest quote first. We can prioritise what's needed for safety now and stage the rest, so you only spend what you need to.
How we help, either way
We give you a free, no-judgment quote, document the damage clearly for any claim, and fix your car to factory standard with a lifetime warranty — whether you're recovering costs from someone else or paying privately. See all your options.
This guide is general information, not legal advice. For your specific situation, consider speaking with a solicitor or your local community legal centre. We're always happy to provide an honest, itemised repair quote to support your claim.
